Australia imprisons Indonesian boys  by Lindsay Murdoch

THREE boys snatched from an impoverished Indonesian village by people smugglers have been held for months in an Australian jail with paedophiles, rapists and murderers....Brisbane barrister Mark Plunkett and Indonesian expert Tony Sheldon have gathered affidavits in the village that prove all three of the boys are under 18. But prosecutors say it will take many weeks, if not months, for police to verify the evidence, leaving the boys vulnerable to abuse in a jail that houses some of Queensland's worst offenders.

Making space for peace in Aceh

...Mustering all his diplomatic skills, Tony spoke calmly and deliberately to the officer about Koes. ‘Mr Sofian has now been assisting you 24 hours a day for 10 days. Do you anticipate that the investigations will be finished soon?’ The vice-commander hesitated momentarily then nodded. As Koes was led back to the camp, he turned his battered face to the trio and smiled. Although he would not be released for another 10 weeks, he – unlike countless others who disappear into military custody – would return to his family alive.
